This Figurative Painting / Still Life, "Marble and Wine," an original oil on panel, is an attempt to give the stone bust a bit of life. Marble is said to be the most alive of all the mediums used for the human form; thus a reflection in the eyes and a gold earring with opal along with a glass of wine, which is said to be a living thing. The bust is quirkier than I originally intended but carries a little something. I attempted to repaint this subject without the quirks, but in its more perfected future state of painting it carried nothing, so I cleaned off the panel for use elsewhere and left this the original version as is. | |
