- In this Interdisciplinary Still Life Painting,
"Bluebird," an original oil on panel, I wanted to create
a trompe l'oeuil still life with a violin, bow and sheet
music with words (lyrics) and music. This artwork was painted
in response to the news of the potential loss of a loved one.
When I first heard the news I wrote this song of loss, both the
words and music in an afternoon of lachrymose sadness. A few
days later it came to pass that the illness was not so close
to the grave as thought. I gladly painted this still life anyway.
BLUEBIRD
-
- Bluebird don't fly away.
Stay with me for another day.
-
- I had so hoped that my love would
hold you.
For at least one more day or two.
-
- But if you have got to fly into the
sky.
I will not try to hold you
With anything at all except for my love.
- .
- And if I learn to fly, I will search
the sky blue.
Just to say that I am still in love with you.
