- In this Southwestern Landscape Painting "Black
Mesa," an original oil on panel, I was inspired to create
an image that reflected the monolithic buttress quality of this
starkly beautiful Black Mesa; a well known landmark located a
few miles outside of Espanola, NM. The Rio Grande flows through
along the base of this mesa where the desert meets the treeline.

- For approximately a year my wife and I lived
a few miles on the other side of this mesa, that has many faces
in the drama of New Mexico light. This mesa has a long history
including many battles and is a sacred place for the Native American
people who still live there in the pueblos of the region.
